Kazakhstan, Malawi Forge Diplomatic Ties with Trade Agenda
Kazakhstan and Malawi have established diplomatic relations, marking a new chapter in their bilateral ties. The two countries signed a Joint Communiqué on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, where they also discussed potential trade opportunities.
The agreement comes with a practical trade agenda, as Kazakhstan is considering wheat supplies to Malawi, while Malawi is interested in exporting tea, coffee, and macadamia nuts to the Kazakh market. This gives the emerging relationship an immediate commercial dimension, with grain exports from Kazakhstan heading one way and agricultural products from Malawi going the other.
The two countries have also identified mining, digitalization, education, and agriculture as areas where cooperation could develop. However, no specific investment projects or participating companies have been announced at this stage.
