Kazakhstan Reaps Record Grain Harvest Amid Shift in Crop Focus
Kazakhstan's agricultural sector is showing promising results this year. According to Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov, the country has harvested 83% of its grain crop area, with a total of 19.9 million tons of grain threshed so far.
The average yield per hectare stands at 14.7 centners, exceeding expectations and allowing Kazakhstan to meet domestic demand for food grain while maintaining export volumes.
The share of grain crops in the country's total sown area has decreased from 72% to 66%, mainly due to a reduction in wheat acreage and an increase in oilseed crops. The latter now occupy over 5.2 million hectares, up from 3 million in 2024.
The harvest season is nearing its end, with grain harvesting completed in the West Kazakhstan region and over 95% of grain-growing areas harvested in several other regions.
