Kazakhstan Sees Record Wheat Flour Exports to Afghanistan

Kazakhstan's wheat flour exports are on track to reach their strongest season in years due to rising demand from Afghanistan, according to Yevgeny Karabanov, chairman of the Analytics Committee of the Grain Union of Kazakhstan.

The country is forecast to export 2.12 million metric tons during the 2025-26 marketing year, surpassing its previous record of 1.88 million tons in 2024.

Afghanistan remains the largest destination for Kazakh flour exports, accounting for roughly two-thirds of Kazakhstan's total flour exports with imports totaling 1.23 million tons in 2024.

However, Afghanistan has taken steps to strengthen its domestic milling industry by raising tariffs on imported flour while lowering duties on wheat imports.
