Kazakhstan Sees Surge in Grain Shipments Amid Regional Trade Boost

Kazakhstan's grain shipments have seen a significant increase over the past eight months. According to Transport Vice Minister Zhanibek Taizhanov, the country transported 9.3 million tons of grain by rail during this period, which is 13% more than in the same period last year.

Of the total grain shipments, 7.2 million tons were for export and another 2.1 million tons were supplied domestically. Grain exports to Central Asia grew by 37%, while those to China increased by 34%. The country's grain exports through Russia's ports rose by 9%.

The most notable growth was seen in shipments to Afghanistan, which rose by 4.4 times to reach 655,000 tons. Additionally, combined fodder exports grew by 38% to hit 2.6 million tons.
