Kazakhstan Sunflower Seed Prices Plummet 27% Amid Abundant Supplies

Sunflower seed prices in Kazakhstan plummeted nearly 27% over the course of just one week, falling to 162 thousand tenge per ton. This decline is attributed to an abundance of sunflower seeds available in the market.

The sharp drop in price has left analysts wondering if further declines are on the horizon, particularly if large volumes continue to flood the market.

Apart from sunflower seeds, other oilseeds displayed more stable dynamics. Rapeseed held steady at 202 thousand tenge per ton, soybeans remained unchanged at 193 thousand tenge per ton, and flaxseed rose by a modest 3 thousand tenge to 183 thousand tenge per ton.

In the grain market, soft wheat prices were generally stable, with some classes experiencing gains of up to 5 thousand tenge. Durum wheat with 14-15% protein saw increases of between 3 and 5 thousand tenge, while lentil prices rose overall.
