KazMunayGas Unveils Digital Twin Rollout at Vostochny Moldabek Field

Kazakhstan's KazMunayGas (KMG) is continuing its rollout of digital twins at production assets, including the Vostochny Moldabek field. According to a recent strategic session, KMG plans to integrate models of reservoirs and wells into a single digital environment by January 2027.

This will enable the creation of a digital twin of the asset, allowing for end-to-end work with production data. The pilot project at Vostochny Moldabek saw a reduction in time required to perform scenario calculations from over 38 days to six days.

The results of the modelling identified an optimal development option involving the drilling of two horizontal wells instead of six directional wells, which is expected to provide additional oil production of around 100,000 tons per year.
