KBR to Upgrade Aramco’s Marjan Offshore Field in Arabian Gulf
U.S.-based engineering firm KBR has been chosen by Saudi oil giant Aramco to support the upgrade of offshore facilities in the Arabian Gulf. The project focuses on the Marjan field, a key oil and gas asset operated by Aramco. KBR will provide engineering and project execution services to enhance offshore processing, gas compression, and power infrastructure, leveraging digital technologies and automation.
Jay Ibrahim, President of Sustainable Technology Solutions at KBR, highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two companies. He emphasized KBR’s expertise in offshore engineering and its commitment to integrating advanced automation and digital solutions to meet Aramco’s goals. The work will primarily be carried out from KBR’s offices in Houston and Al-Khobar.
The Marjan field has undergone significant expansions to maintain a crude production capacity of approximately 800,000 barrels per day while increasing associated gas processing capabilities. KBR’s involvement is expected to further strengthen the long-term performance of the field’s critical offshore assets.
Beyond this project, KBR is also active in other sectors, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), where it recently secured a front-end engineering design contract for an LNG export facility in Texas.
