Kean Jr., Bennett Spar Over Gas Prices, Tariffs in NJ Congressional Debate

Candidates in New Jersey's seventh congressional district debated policy issues, including gas prices and tariffs. Rep. Tom Kean Jr., R-N.J., and Rebecca Bennett faced off on Sunday night at a debate hosted by the New Jersey Globe and Rider University.

Bennett blamed rising gas prices on the U.S. military conflict in Iran, saying 'We need to end the war in Iran to make sure that we are bringing these costs down.' Kean countered that rising gas prices were due to an increased lack of energy independence during former President Joe Biden's administration.

Kean called for reducing energy regulations and stopping diesel exports. He also supported using oil and natural gas resources from Venezuela to support the domestic energy supply.
