Kenya Eyes Oil Production, Exports by Early 2027 as Neighboring Uganda Prepares for Its Own Crude Oil Debut

Kenya is gearing up to become an oil-producing nation, with plans to start crude oil production from the Turkana oil fields by December 2026. The country's first exports of crude oil are targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

However, there is still uncertainty surrounding where the crude will be processed. The development comes as plans for the Dangote Refinery in Lam continue to take shape.

In related news, Uganda is also planning to export its first batch of crude oil this year, with production expected to reach about 45,000 barrels per day.
