Kerala Seeks Centre's Help to Ease Cooking Gas Shortage During Onam

Kerala's State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob has written to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, requesting a reduction in waiting periods for domestic cooking gas supply during Onam.

The current waiting period is 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas. With the festival season approaching, Minister Jacob fears that households will face undue hardship due to an LPG shortage if restrictions on gas refill booking are not withdrawn immediately.

He pointed out that during Onam, people often travel from afar to spend time with their loved ones, resulting in increased cooking gas demand. To avoid a potential shortage, Minister Jacob urged the withdrawal of restrictions on domestic fuel bookings.
