Kerala Silver Prices Hit Rs 2,600 Amid National Benchmark Surge
Silver prices in Kerala have been steadily increasing in August 2026. On August 13, the rate stood at Rs 2,600 per 10 gram, with a national benchmark that climbed from Rs 2,350 on August 4 to Rs 2,550 by August 11, a gain of about 8.5% in a little over a week.
This upward trend is driven by sharp single-day jumps, including a Rs 10,000 per kg rise on August 11, and the rate has since consolidated at the higher level rather than extending further.
The silver market's dual character makes its price more volatile and prone to sharper swings when investment and industrial demand move together. Unlike gold, which is driven mainly by safe haven and monetary demand, silver carries a large industrial component through its use in solar panels, electronics, and electrical applications.
