Kinesis Gold Price Surge Attributed to Pricing Glitch on CoinGecko
Kinesis Gold, a token backed by physical gold, experienced an unusual surge on CoinGecko, jumping over 110% in value. However, this dramatic move was likely due to a pricing glitch rather than a real market rally.
The price of Kinesis Gold briefly showed a 24-hour low near $66 before returning to around $140, while gold itself had not moved significantly. This discrepancy suggests that the issue lies with the C1USD pricing on CoinGecko, which temporarily valued it at $0.48 instead of its usual $1.
The KAU/C1USD trading pair accounted for almost all of Kinesis Gold's reported trading volume on CoinGecko at the time, with a sudden spike in trading volume raising questions about how CoinGecko calculated the token's price.
Kinesis operates a wider ecosystem built around tokenized precious metals, including silver-backed tokens. However, the company has faced scrutiny over its corporate structure and regulation, as well as complaints from users regarding slow withdrawals and poor communication.
