Kinetic Offers $10,000 Reward for Copper Theft Information in Northwest Arkansas
Copper thefts have become a growing concern in Northwest Arkansas, with an internet service provider offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Kinetic, based in Little Rock, has reported numerous copper line thefts in Washington, Madison, and Carroll counties over the last month, with one recent incident occurring on Tuesday.
Megan Krtek, a spokeswoman for Kinetic, estimated that the company lost around 5,000 feet of copper cable - equivalent to over 16 football fields - in the affected communities. While the exact financial cost is unknown, each restoration can cost thousands of dollars depending on the extent of the damage.
Kinetic has been dealing with copper thefts for some time, but the trend has increased significantly alongside the rising price of copper. The company has invested heavily in physical asset protections and is working closely with local law enforcement to catch repeat offenders.
