Korea Composite Stock Price Index Jumps Amid Middle East Tensions
Seoul's stock market kicked off Wednesday on a positive note, despite concerns over escalating tensions in the Middle East and rising oil prices. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) jumped by 18.35 points, or 0.26 percent, to reach 6,972.87 at the opening bell.
The rally was led by major chipmakers, which offset worries over global supply chain disruptions and higher oil prices.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index bucked the trend, gaining 1.3 percent overnight on continued optimism around artificial intelligence developments.
