Korea Western Power Completes First National Energy Conversion Project in Gumi
Korea Western Power Co. has successfully completed a national energy conversion project in Korea by replacing coal-fired power plants with natural gas power plants.
The Gumi Natural Gas Power Plant, located at the Gumi High-Tech Valley 5th Industrial Complex in Gyeongsangbuk-do, is the first fuel conversion project in Korea that has replaced a 500MW class high-efficiency coal-fired unit with a natural gas combined cycle.
The project aims to establish a stable power supply base in the Gumi region and reduce carbon emissions. Lee Jung-bok, president of Western Power, stated that they will continue to do their best to achieve stable power supply and carbon reduction together in the process of national energy conversion.
