Korea's HD Hyundai E&F Brings Clean Energy to Daesan Petrochemical Complex

HD Hyundai E&F has opened an LNG cogeneration plant in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, to supply both electricity and heat to companies operating in the Daesan petrochemical complex. The new power plant is a major energy infrastructure upgrade for the region.

The project cost approximately 435 billion won ($303 million) and took over two years to complete after construction began in March 2024. The facility, which uses a high-efficiency combined-cycle system fueled by liquefied natural gas, can generate 290 megawatts of electricity and 321 tons of heat per hour.

The plant's electricity and heat will be supplied to companies operating in Daesan's petrochemical complex, including H&L Advanced. According to HD Hyundai Oilbank President Song Myung-jun, the completion of the plant will strengthen energy infrastructure at the complex and improve the competitiveness of its clients. 'The company will focus on operating the combined-cycle facility reliably and supplying electricity and heat without disruption,' said Kim Myung-hyun, CEO of HD Hyundai E&F.
