KRG Blames Regional Tensions for Fuel Price Spike
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has attributed the recent spike in fuel prices to regional tensions, assuring that supply and pricing issues will be resolved soon.
KRG Spokesperson Peshawa Hawramani stated that senior officials will meet shortly to discuss the ongoing gasoline shortage and fuel supply situation.
The remarks come after Daner Abdulghafar, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, said that the 50,000 barrels of oil per day allocated to the Kurdistan Region under an agreement with Baghdad is insufficient to meet domestic demand.
Abdulghafar noted that the KRG consumes approximately seven million liters of gasoline daily, adding that the current crude oil quota is inadequate to supply local refineries and meet market demand.
