Ksi Lisims Lands Major LNG Deal with German Utility Uniper
The Ksi Lisims LNG project in British Columbia has secured another major deal to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to a German utility, Uniper. This is the second contract signed with a German firm and brings the total committed to six million tonnes per year, or half of the planned capacity.
The 20-year agreement will see Uniper purchase up to two million tonnes of LNG per year from Ksi Lisims' floating production facility at Pearse Island. This deal is in addition to existing contracts with Shell and TotalEnergies for similar volumes under similar terms.
Uniper's CEO, Michael Lewis, stated that the agreement 'is about far more than LNG' and strengthens their overall portfolio from a reliable Canadian source. He added that diversification is crucial in an uncertain world.
