KTZ Sets New Record in Grain Rail Shipments
Kazakhstan's rail transportation of grain has hit a record high in September. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) transported 1.45 million tons, up 7% from the same month last year. This is according to the company's press service.
The majority of the grain was shipped for export, with 1.2 million tons leaving the country. Central Asian countries accounted for the largest share at 701,000 tons, an increase of 8%. The majority of these exports went to Uzbekistan, with 512,000 tons shipped.
Kazakhstan's transportation of milled grain products also reached a new high in September, with 274,000 tons transported by rail. This is up 13% from the same month last year, with 230,000 tons being exported.
