Kuwait, Arab Neighbors Eye New Oil Pipeline Bypassing Strait of Hormuz

Kuwait's oil minister, Tariq Sulaiman Al-Roumi, revealed on Sunday that his country is holding talks with Saudi Arabia and other Arab neighbors to build a new pipeline for crude oil exports.

The proposal aims to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which has been blocked by Iran, causing Kuwait's oil exports to 'completely stop.'

Al-Roumi emphasized that rebuilding damaged oil storage tanks will take at least a year and underscored the strong likelihood of developing a bypass pipeline in coordination with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and other regional partners.

The proposed routes for the new pipeline would connect Kuwait through Saudi Arabia to either the Red Sea or Oman, while another route would link the country to the UAE's port of Fujairah.
