Los Angeles motorists are feeling the pinch of surging petrol prices as the US war with Iran and disruption to Middle East oil supplies drive up energy costs. The city's average fuel price has reached $5.805 a gallon, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration.
Drivers like Edward Serrano and Susan Wilks are expressing frustration over the high cost of filling their vehicles. 'Why should we pay for this?' Serrano asked, referring to the financial burden on households. He noted that sustained high fuel costs could leave families struggling between paydays.
The disruption to oil supplies is attributed to the conflict with Iran, which has disrupted tanker traffic and pushed up insurance and transport costs through the Strait of Hormuz.
