LA Gas Prices Hit Record High as Nation Sees Unusually Steep Increase
Los Angeles County drivers are facing higher-than-usual fuel costs after regular gasoline prices topped $6 per gallon for the first time in months. The average price of self-serve regular gas in LA County reached $6.038 on September 13, according to data from AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
This marks a 26-day streak of daily increases, with the countywide average climbing by 39.6 cents over that period. Orange County's average price also rose to its highest point since May 29, increasing by 43.3 cents during the same time frame.
For drivers who cover around 1,000 miles per month in a car with a fuel efficiency of 25 miles per gallon, this price hike translates to an additional $16 in monthly fuel costs. Nationally, the average gas price has reached $4.313, according to AAA.
