Latin American Wheat Buyers Convene in US for Regional Partnerships

USW's Latin American & Caribbean Buyers Conference brought together more than 140 representatives from 14 countries, including 12 U.S. wheat farmers, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The conference aimed to build regional partnerships and strengthen relationships between farmers, exporters, importers, millers, and others through the exchange of ideas and information on emerging trends shaping the future of the wheat industry.

Daniel Whitley, administrator of the USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), emphasized that U.S. wheat farmers continue to adopt innovations that allow them to grow more wheat with fewer inputs and highlighted the United States' commitment to being a consistent supplier of high-quality wheat worldwide.

The conference included panels on supply and demand, managing price risk, global trade flows, and trade policy updates, as well as discussions on logistics and transportation, quality performance, and investment opportunities for U.S. wheat classes.
