LBMA Delegates Predict Gold to Hit $5,013 per Ounce in a Year
Delegates at the London Bullion Market Association’s annual gathering in Sorrento, Italy, forecast that gold prices will climb to $5,013 per troy ounce within the next 12 months, up from the current level of $4,170. This prediction comes despite gold having declined 3% so far this year, as expectations for prolonged higher interest rates and geopolitical tensions persist.
The metal surged 64% in 2025, marking its largest annual gain since 1979, and reached a record high of $5,595 per ounce in January. At last year’s conference, delegates had forecast gold would trade around $4,980 by now.
The LBMA conference poll also projected silver prices would rise to $97 per ounce within a year from approximately $61 on Tuesday. Silver has dropped 14% so far this year following a 147% rally in 2025.
Additionally, platinum prices are expected to rise to $1,914 per ounce from the current $1,706, while palladium is forecast to increase to $1,415 from around $1,174. Both platinum and palladium have fallen 17% and 28%, respectively, so far this year.
