Libyan Crude Output Surges as Energy Sector Funds Public Expenditure
The National Oil Corporation of Libya has released figures showing that monthly crude output in August reached 43.268 million barrels, a significant increase from July's total of 41.713 million barrels.
This sustained operational performance highlights the central role of the energy sector in funding public expenditure, with petroleum exports accounting for the vast majority of state revenues.
In August, the National Oil Corporation directed substantial volumes of crude oil to international buyers, including approximately 7 million barrels and 77 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
The financial earnings from these deliveries provided a significant boost to state accounts, with official collections including 'the transfer of more than 2 billion dollars in oil revenues for August to the sovereign account at the Libyan Foreign Bank' as well as roughly 2 billion dinars in contractual taxes and royalties.
