Libyan Oil Industry Under Siege as Drone Attacks Target Key Facilities
The Libyan oil industry is facing a significant threat due to a series of drone attacks that have targeted key facilities, including an oil blending and filling plant.
The Zawiya refinery, located near Tripoli, is Libya's largest operational refinery and has been directly affected by the recent attacks. The facility produces 120,000 barrels per day and is linked to the substantial Sharara oilfield.
Despite a fire at the refinery caused by one of the drone attacks, operations have continued. However, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced that it may declare force majeure if the attacks persist.
