Libya's Oil Production Returns to Normal After Brief Shutdown at Three Fields

Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced that crude oil production has returned to normal levels after a brief shutdown at three fields. According to NOC Chairman Masoud Suleiman, the impact of the shutdowns was limited and he does not expect any further production stoppages. The shutdowns occurred after members of the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) shut valves on a key crude pipeline linking Hamada and Zawiya.

The closure of the pipeline valves caused pressure to surge sharply at the point where the production line connects to the Tahara oil field, forcing the shutdown of the field and related facilities. The NOC warned that it could declare force majeure if the valve closures continued or similar forced shutdowns occurred at other fields.

Suleiman stated that Libya's overall oil production remained largely unaffected, holding at around 1.4 million barrels per day. The NOC is in contact with the PFG to resolve their demands for administrative and financial transfer under the NOC's authority.
