Lindi LNG Project Talks Drag On, Investors Remain in the Dark
Tanzanian investors remain in the dark about the Lindi liquefied natural gas project's progress, leading investment companies say. The matter was not clarified in a recent briefing to journalists.
The joint venture partnership led by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) alongside global energy majors Shell and Equinor had targeted signing the final host government agreement (HGA) by late June 2026. This would follow commercial negotiations, where the company says they are still in talks to conclude.
The HGA signing is expected to be followed by a final investment decision (FID), with commercial operations and initial exports anticipated roughly eight years post-signing, around 2034.
