LNG Canada Clears Final Hurdle for Phase 2 Expansion
LNG Canada has made its final investment decision on Phase 2 of its project in Kitimat, British Columbia. The expansion will increase production capacity from 14 to 28 million tonnes per year and create thousands of jobs during peak construction.
The decision was made by the Joint Venture Participants, including Shell, PETRONAS, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation, and KOGAS. It marks a significant milestone for LNG Canada as it aims to become one of the largest LNG facilities in the world.
Phase 2 includes the addition of two new liquefaction trains, an extra storage tank, condensate tank, loading berth, and expanded utility and process systems. The project will also see the construction of five new compressor stations along the Coastal GasLink pipeline.
