LNG Canada Doubles Down on Expansion with $23 Billion Terminal Upgrade

Canada's first major liquefied natural gas export terminal is planning to double its capacity. The facility, owned by LNG Canada, will undergo a C$33 billion expansion in British Columbia.

The Phase 2 project, which begins immediately, will increase the terminal's capacity to 28 million tons per year. This will involve adding two new liquefaction units, an additional storage tank, and a loading berth.

Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke about the expansion during an announcement in Vancouver on Tuesday. The facility began exporting LNG last year as part of its initial Phase 1 project.
