LNG Canada Doubles Down on Kitimat Expansion

LNG Canada has announced plans to proceed with a $30-billion-plus expansion of its facility in Kitimat, British Columbia. The Phase 2 project will double production at the site, increasing output to 28 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year.

The investment includes adding two LNG processing trains, new storage and condensate tanks, loading berths, and expanded utility and process systems. The existing pipeline from northeastern B.C., known as Coastal GasLink, will also be expanded with five new compressor stations.

At its peak, the project is expected to employ up to 4,000 construction workers in Kitimat, creating an additional 2,100 jobs along the pipeline route.
