LNG Canada Doubles Down on Kitimat Expansion

LNG Canada has announced that it will proceed with its Phase 2 expansion project in Kitimat, British Columbia. The expansion will double the facility's capacity to 28 million tonnes per year.

The first phase of the project began shipping liquefied natural gas last year and saw significant investment from joint venture partners Shell, Petronas, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corp., and KOGAS.

LNG Canada CEO Chris Cooper stated that the project will create thousands of jobs and further solidify Canada's position as a trusted energy partner. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between governments, First Nations, local communities, and industry stakeholders in achieving this goal.
