LNG Canada Expands Kitimat LNG Project with Second Phase

LNG Canada has announced that it will proceed with the second phase of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Kitimat, British Columbia. This expansion will build on the existing infrastructure and add new facilities to increase production capacity.

The first phase of the project began shipping LNG last year, and this next stage will see two additional LNG processing units, known as trains, constructed. Additional infrastructure includes an expanded storage tank, condensate tank, loading berth, and utility systems.

LNG Canada is a joint venture between Shell and several international partners, including Malaysia's Petronas and Japan's Mitsubishi Corp. The company is working with Coastal GasLink to expand the pipeline capacity through the construction of five new compressor stations.
