LNG Canada Expansion Gets Green Light as Carney Touts Historic Investment

Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to highlight the 'historic investment' in Canada's energy industry during his visit to Vancouver on Tuesday. His public itinerary shows that he will share news about the final investment decision for Phase 2 of the LNG Canada project at 11 a.m. PT, followed by a briefing on new measures to protect Canada's oceans.
The expansion project is expected to roughly double the production of liquefied natural gas from 14 million to 28 million tonnes annually, making it one of the largest in the world. The Canadian government claims that the project will be worth billions to the national economy.
