LNG Canada Expansion Sanctioned Amid Global Supply Crunch

Shell has greenlit the second phase of LNG Canada, which will nearly double its capacity to 28 million tons per year. This expansion comes as global natural gas supplies are curtailed by roughly 20% due to disruptions caused by the Iran war.

The project's startup is targeted for the early 2030s. The expansion aims to boost output during a time of supply crunch, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing conflict.
