LNG Exports Surge as US Supply Faces Storage Challenge
The United States has seen a significant increase in liquefied natural gas exports, up 23% year over year. This trend is expected to continue, with an average of 17.5 billion cubic feet per day exported.
The Energy Information Administration forecasts that third-quarter LNG exports will reach around 16.5 billion cubic feet a day, demonstrating strong constant demand.
However, the main issue facing natural gas is the large amount of supply in storage tanks in the United States. While this has not yet significantly impacted prices, it will require cold weather to make a dent in the surplus.
With the approaching shoulder season, when temperatures are neither hot nor cold, demand for natural gas is expected to decrease. Nevertheless, as we move forward into October's futures market, heating demand will start to be priced in, shifting the view from bearish to neutral.
