LNG Facility and Power Plants Proposed for NC as Region's Energy Demands Rise
Utility providers gathered before Davidson County officials to discuss the growing demand for power in the region. Representatives from Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, and EnergyUnited presented on power generation, energy storage, and the need for additional capacity due to rapid population and industrial growth across North Carolina.
The presentations focused on a proposed $2 billion liquefied natural gas facility in western Davidson County and two planned natural gas-fired power plants in neighboring Davie County.
Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, and EnergyUnited addressed the Davidson County Board of Commissioners. The meeting highlighted the impact of North Carolina's growth on energy capacity.
