LNG Offloading Disrupted by Adverse Weather in Moheshkhali

Adverse weather conditions in Cox's Bazar's Moheshkhali have disrupted the offloading of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) from ships to floating terminals, resulting in a significant drop in gas supply. According to Petrobangla data as of 6pm on Thursday, September 24th, gas supply from domestic fields stood at 1,615 million cubic feet (mmcfd), while regasified LNG (RLNG) supply from imported sources was down by nearly 32 percent to 686 mmcfd within three days. Total gas supply has also fallen to 2,301 mmcfd.

Petrobangla stated that due to the adverse weather, the transfer of imported LNG cargoes to floating terminals is being hindered, leading to a decrease in overall gas supply compared to normal levels. The company assured that once weather conditions improve, gas supply will return to normal.

It's worth noting that earlier on September 21st at 2pm, RLNG supply stood at 1,003 mmcfd, with total gas supply at 2,591 mmcfd. Within three days, RLNG supply has declined by 317 mmcfd -- or roughly 31.6 percent -- while total gas supply has dropped by 290 mmcfd.
