LNG Resilience Tested by Geopolitics: Diversification and Infrastructure Security Take Center Stage
A recent Energy Connects Live session at Gastech 2026 discussed the resilience of global LNG markets and supply chains in the face of growing geopolitical risks.
The panel, comprising Dr. Carole Nakhle, Crystol Energy CEO and Secretary General, Arab Energy Club, Dr. Smith Sangiambut, Managing Director and Partner, Boston Consulting Group, and Anne-Sophie Corbeau, Global Research Scholar at Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy, examined how the energy system is responding to a more volatile geopolitical environment.
Nakhle emphasized that while global LNG markets have shown greater resilience than expected, disruptions to infrastructure, shipping, and supply chains are forcing companies to rethink their approach to securing gas and LNG supplies.
Congressman Corbeau highlighted several vulnerabilities, particularly for Europe, warning that the coming winter could put the resilience of LNG markets under strain due to diesel supply and wider commodity disruptions.
