LNG Revolution Brings Global Gas Market Within Reach
The liquefaction of natural gas has revolutionized the industry by allowing for global transportation and trade. This process, which compresses natural gas into a liquid form, has opened up new markets and opportunities for countries with abundant supplies.
In the US, the LNG industry is expanding rapidly, with exports averaging 17.4 billion cubic feet per day in the first six months of 2026, a 23% increase from the same period in 2025. Most of these exports go to Europe, particularly to countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, France, the UK, Germany, and Spain.
The development of LNG facilities along the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana has generated significant business activity during construction and provides well-paying jobs once operational. These facilities also help stabilize and support the natural gas market by tapping into valuable resources that would otherwise be an oversupply problem.
