LNG shipments through Hormuz rise amid regional tensions
Despite ongoing risks in the region, liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have continued to rebound. According to Bloomberg, at least three LNG shipments exited the strait since late last week, building on a recent surge in traffic. This uptick follows a significant increase in outbound LNG flows in September, which reached their highest level since the Iran conflict began in late February 2026.
The rise in shipments reflects regional producers' efforts to restore supplies to energy-starved customers. However, flows remain more than 75% below prewar levels, indicating that the recovery is still far from complete. The data, compiled by Bloomberg and Kpler, highlights the delicate balance between meeting energy demands and navigating the persistent risks in the Hormuz region.
