A plan by the New Zealand government to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Taranaki has stalled due to an alternative proposal from gentailers.

The Government's LNG terminal was expected to be finalized this parliamentary term, but it seems that will not happen now.

Newstalk ZB and the NZ Herald understand that the alternative proposal from gentailers has delayed the Government signing a deal with an LNG terminal provider.
