London Miners Dragged Down by Plunge in Gold and Silver Prices
London-listed mining stocks took a hit on Monday as gold and other precious metal prices plummeted overnight. The sell-off saw gold futures drop 3.02% to $4,190.50, while silver futures fell 5.15% to $61.463.
Silver miners Fresnillo (LON: FRES) led the fallers, down 5.22% to £2,741.50p, followed closely by gold producer Endeavour Mining (LON: EDV), which dropped 4.66% to £4,317.00p.
Diversified miners with broader base-metals exposure also fell, but by smaller margins, with Antofagasta (LON: ANTO) down 3.51% to £3,599.50p and Anglo American (LON: AAL) dropping 3.24% to £3,911.50p.
The falls in London-listed mining shares track the metals sell-off directly, as lower metal prices cut into miners' revenue. The decline marks a reversal of part of the sharp rally seen earlier in 2026, but gold futures remain well above their session low of $4,183.09 hit on Monday.
