The Canadian dollar remained relatively steady to start the week, trading at US$0.7141 or US$1=C$1.4004 as of 8:41 a.m. CDT on Monday.

This stability comes as crude oil prices dropped due to a statement from U.S. President Donald Trump about potential talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week.

Brent crude oil shed US$3.03, dropping to US$100.84 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate retreated US$3.68 to US$96.62/barrel.
