Loonie Steady as Oil Prices Plunge Amid Trump Comments
The Canadian dollar remained relatively stable at the start of the week.
The loonie traded at US$0.7141 or US$1=C$1.4004 as of Monday morning, compared to US$0.7142 or US$1=C$1.4002.
This came as the United States Dollar Index edged up 0.07 of a point to 100.30 points.
Crude oil prices took a hit after U.S. President Donald Trump's comments on potential talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the UN General Assembly in New York.
Brent crude oil dropped US$3.03 to US$100.84 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate retreated US$3.68 to US$96.62/barrel.
