Loonie Tumbles Below 71 Cent Mark Amid Crude Oil Price Surge
The Canadian dollar has closed below the 71 US cent mark for the first time since July 28, after falling to a low of $0.7094 or C$1=US$1.4096 on Wednesday.
This decline comes as the U.S. Dollar Index gained 0.50 of a point at 101.10.
Crude oil prices have jumped following Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's statement to the United Nations General Assembly that his country will never surrender to the U.S. or Israel.
West Texas Intermediate rose $2.10 per barrel to $92.62, while Brent crude oil advanced $4.28/barrel to $103.53.
