Louisiana Fishers Sue Venture Global Over Alleged Environmental Damage from LNG Terminal Construction

A group of commercial fishers and seafood processors in southwest Louisiana is suing Venture Global, alleging that dredging operations for a new liquefied natural gas terminal have harmed their livelihoods.

The lawsuit claims that sediment spills from the construction of the CP2 terminal near Calcasieu Lake killed millions of oysters and decreased catches of finfish, crabs, and shrimp.

Venture Global already operates a nearly $10 billion LNG export terminal in Cameron Parish and is currently building a second terminal, valued at $30 billion. As part of the CP2 project, the company is expanding a channel near Calcasieu Lake to allow tankers to access the new terminal.
