Lucie Davis Turns Retail Price Labels into Unique Copper and Enamel Art Pins

Artist Lucie Davis has found a unique way to breathe new life into everyday retail price labels. She transforms them into wearable art pieces, dubbed 'Precious Price Tag Pins', using a combination of laser engraving and traditional enameling techniques.

The process begins with a metal cutout that receives the precise graphical details of a price label. This is followed by the application of vitreous enamel, which is fired in a kiln to achieve a glossy, unique surface. Davis experiments with firing temperatures to intentionally vary color and texture across the pieces.

The inspiration for these pins stems from Davis's personal experience working in a shop during her university days. She incorporates the marks, creases, and unique characteristics of these labels into her designs, capturing their essence and imperfections.
