Macron Deploys French Troops to Protect Saudi Oil Port

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on September 24 that France will deploy troops and air defence systems to Saudi Arabia to protect the Red Sea port city of Yanbu, a key hub for the kingdom's oil exports.

The move is aimed at securing the site without getting involved in the conflict, according to Macron. The deployment includes soldiers, radar systems, and defense systems.

Yanbu has come under attacks by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement, which has raised concerns over alternative routes for Saudi energy exports.
