Macron Deploys Troops to Protect Saudi Oil Route Amid Crude Price Surge

France has announced plans to send troops and defense systems to Saudi Arabia to protect the Red Sea port city of Yanbu, which is crucial for energy transport. French President Emmanuel Macron made the announcement in a primetime television interview on Thursday.

The move comes as crude oil prices have surged recently due to missile attacks from Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis on the main alternative route for Saudi oil exports through Yanbu.

Macron emphasized that France is not getting involved in any conflicts, but rather to protect the site and ensure energy supplies are not disrupted. He also warned about possible Russian attacks on French soil, citing Moscow's hostile acts against European countries.
